In celebration of Black History Month, the British Basketball League (BBL) has donated £10,000 worth of free advertising to local black businesses, which will run throughout the month.
The British Basketball League (BBL) is one of the most diverse sports leagues in the UK and this initiative underlines the League's commitment to promoting local businesses during this important month of recognition and awareness.
The league and its clubs are at the heart of the community, inspiring people from all backgrounds and tackling social issues through the power of basketball. Clubs across the league are calling on fans to nominate a small, local, Black-owned business they feel deserves free in-arena advertising, and then each club randomly selects the ultimate winner from all the nominations.
During selected Thursday and Friday matches (including those televised by Sky Sports), both home and away teams will advertise their chosen local business on pitch-side LED digital boards, with ads worth around £1,250 per match. In addition, the live and on-demand viewing of this season's matches reached a record-breaking 20 million viewings, an all-time high.
